Meet the Rescue Herd
All of our horses are given love, space and patience to gain their confidence and interact with you. It’s on their terms, what they can and will do. One of the most beautiful moments is when trust becomes connection.
The Standies
Standard Bred horses have a wonderful, gentle personality. This large breed is typically seen in harness racing or pulling buggies in Amish country. And because of this, they can be worked pretty hard. When no longer needed, they’re at risk to go to auction and then into what’s known as the slaughter pipeline (into Canada and Mexico). Rescue’s across the country race to get them out of that pipeline and into loving homes or sanctuary.
Ben
Ben is a majestic, gentle giant at 16+ hands, loves treats and being around people.Background - Ben, formerly Arcane Seelster, is a 9 y/o Standardbred born in Canada on a prestigious racing farm for harness racing. After a 3 year successful racing career, he was tossed into the slaughterhouse pipeline when could no longer race.
Rescue - We rescued Ben via Horse’s Angels in West Chester, PA. They work to get horses out of slaughterhouse pipeline. Ben needed a month of quarantine due to having Strangles (a highly contagious infection in horses). Once here, our vet performed X-rays and diagnosed him with Ringbone. Ringbone is a degenerative arthritis that requires ongoing pain management and bone supporting supplements, to keep him comfortable.
Fun Fact - Life came full circle when we googled his lineage. Turns out, Christine had cared for his great grandfather, 15 years prior, at New Bolton Vet Center in Kennet Square, PA! His grandfather, Artsplace, is the reason she fell for the Standardbred breed.
Minnie
Minnie is beautiful, gentle and curious. She likes to follow you around like a giant dog.Background - Minnie, formerly Midnight Flasher, is a 9y/o Standardbred born in Indiana. She did not race and we don’t know much about past.
Rescue - Minnie came with Ben, via Horse’s Angels. We had to take her too! Ashley noticed she was getting pushed around by more dominant horses. Minnie came to us stiff with a broken heel bulb axis. It requires frequent hoof trims and joint support such as oral supplements to alleviate pain and discomfort.

Background - Sarah, formerly Strangle Hold, is a 13 y/o Standardbred from New York. She did not race, but was used as a broodmare. We don’t know how many foals Sarah had, or where she came from, but was probably dumped in the pipeline due to an injury during her last foaling.
Rescue - Sarah was not originally on our list to bring home. She quarantined at the same facility as Ben and Minnie, and had bonded with Minnie. Minnie was anxious and cannot come home to our farm without a companion, so we had a decision to make.
Sarah
Sarah is a sweet, patient girl who loves to be groomed and hang with the minis. Summer 2026 Medical Update:
The horses are loving the warm weather. For the most part, all are doing well. However Ben and Sarah have needed extra vet care. As you know, a horse’s legs are their life.
Ben’s right front foot required a steroid injection in the hopes it will help major discomfort caused by Ringbone.
Sarah’s arthritis needed a boost in medication.

The Minis
The minis are miniature horses which are around 34–38 inches, similar in size to a large golden retriever. They’re popular as pets, show horses, driving animals, and therapy companions. They’re known to be affectionate, intelligent, and often serve as guide animals.
Beau
Beau is a mini with a big heart and loves to give hugs.Rescue - Beau along with the two other minis, Patrick and Nick, came through a sale auction and ended up at a farm that could not keep up with their medical or emotional needs.
All three arrived here together. It took quite some time to gain their trust and to bond with us as they were frightened and not in the greatest physical health.
With time a patience and lots of love Beau is now happy and thriving, ready to give those hugs to anyone that needs one.
Patrick
Patrick is a little guy with a lot of spunk.Rescue - Patrick along with the two other minis, Beau and Nick, came through a sale auction and ended up at a farm that could not keep up with their medical or emotional needs.
Patrick is the oldest of the bunch and has a few ongoing medical challenges, but with our help he manages them well
With time a patience and lots of love Patrick is also now happy and thriving.
Nick
Nick is our Eeoyre (if you're a Winnie the Pooh fan...you know) He has a quiet realistic view of the farm - goes with the flow.Rescue - He originally came through a sale auction and ended up at the same farm as Beau and Patrick. They did not have the time to help him undo his fear of people.
Nick was most frightened, with no trust for humans. No one could get near him.
It took a few months just sitting with him daily allowing him to heal in his own time. Luckily in that time we were able to gain his trust and form a strong bond.
